Mediators Trained in Iganga

On Monday March 13, 2023,the Judiciary commenced training of 45 mediators in Iganga district. The two-day workshop which took place at Continental Hotel, Iganga was mainly facilitated by Retired High Court Judge David Wangutusi, together with HW Elias Kisawuzi, the Registrar of Mediation and HW Twinomuhwezi Henry, the Assistant Registrar.
The candidates for the training were drawn from the areas under the jurisdiction of the newly created Iganga High Court Circuit. These included Judicial Officers, advocates, religious and civic leaders among others.
Among the topics that participants were taken through Conflict Management, Mediation Rules, Styles and Benefits of Mediation, Ethics and Management of Diversities.
At the closing session, the Iganga Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr Eddy Mwanje commended the Judiciary for operationalizing a High Court Circuit in the region and subsequently training mediators to help in the quick administration of Justice.
All trainees were awarded with certificates awaiting their applications to be accredited as court mediators before Courts start allocating them files.
