Group Photo: Magistrate Grade Ones with the Chief Registrar and Principal Judge after the meeting at High Court
The Principal Judge, Hon. Justice Dr Flavian Zeija together with the Chief Registrar, HW Sarah Langa Siu, met Magistrates Grade I in charge of stations at the Judiciary Headquarters, Kampala.
The meeting is intended to deliberate and discuss on the ways for improving their performance, share challenges and devise means of improved justice delivery. And later in the day, each Magistrate will give a status report of their courts.
While addressing the Magistrates, the Principal Judge commended the Chief Registrar's tireless efforts for holding such meetings periodically and urged them to use such engagements to learn, and benchmark on best practices, to enhance performance and serve the population of Uganda better.
He challenged them portray Judiciary's good image, and adequately understand the kind of people they serve in order to serve them better. "Our people must feel that we serve them," he noted.
In her remarks, the Chief Registrar urged them to use the meeting to bond, build teams, foster peer learning, opportunities for mentorship and also receive any updates happening at the centre for them to get new ideas on how to run their centres.
She appreciated those with positive attitudes towards work regardless of the challenges met at their respective stations.
The Chief Registrar also informed them about the current court expansions and gazetting, enhancement of their jurisdictions, launch of different courts, regulations of Judiciary service, among others.
She challenged the officers of court to learn more, care about the welfare of their support staff, develop good working relations as well as work on their brands.
In a special note she appreciated HW Otwao Fidelis, the Resident Magistrate for Lyantonde, for having a "heart of service" based on her recent impromptu visit at the Court.
Present at the meeting; HW Pamella Lamunu Ocaya (Inspector of Courts), HW James Ereemye Jumire Mawanda, Registrar Magistrates Affairs and Data Management who doubles as the Judiciary Public Relations Officer.
Deputy Registrars; HW Jessica Chemeri (Magistrates Affairs and Data Management), HW Patricia Amoko(Private Legal Secretary to Chief Registrar); Magistrates Grade I; HW Timothy Lumunye(Personal Assistant to the Chief Registrar), HW Julius Mwesigye (Personal Assistant to Principal Judge) and Ms Priscilla Nakiboneka (Principal Executive Engineer, Judiciary) are also in attendance.
HW Mary Kaitesi Kisakye, the Registrar Research, Planning and Development is moderating the meeting.
