The Judiciary yesterday conducted a practical, one-day training session on the Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS), targeting key stakeholders from Cluster Four Courts.

The training, held at the Supreme Court Conference Hall in Kampala, is part of the Judiciary's continued efforts to enhance digital transformation in the justice sector.

Participants included State Attorneys, Police Officers, Advocates in Private Practice, Community Service Officers, mediators and stenographers.

These were drawn from Entebbe, Luwero, Nabweru, Kira, Kawempe, and City Hall Chief Magistrates Courts. The session aimed to equip them with practical skills on how to effectively use ECCMIS, a digital platform designed to streamline court operations through e-filing, online case management, and real-time reporting.

While officially opening the training, HW Moses Gabriel Angualia, Ag Registrar in the Inspectorate of Courts, hailed the initiative as a milestone in enhancing efficiency and transparency in judicial processes.

"This training is a significant milestone in our commitment to improving the efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of our digital case management operations," he said. Adding, "ICT plays a crucial role in decision-making, accountability, and ultimately the success of the Judiciary."

HW Angualia encouraged participants to actively engage in the sessions, noting that their feedback would be vital in improving the system.

Ms. Julian Rweju, ECCMIS Technical Advisor, underscored the Judiciary's commitment to embracing technology in service delivery.

"The Judiciary has made a bold move, and there is no turning back. This training is not just about today but about shaping the future of justice delivery in Uganda,"Ms. Rweju said.

The training was facilitated by Mr. Joseph Ssinabulya, Principal Information Management Officer and ECCMIS Project Manager, who led participants through ECCMIS features, including account creation and name management.

He was supported by Mr. Derrick Kawuki, Senior Information Management Officer, and Mr. Eddie Nsereko, System Administrator, who handled practical sessions on the criminal case process and user roles within the system.

Mr. Denis Tusiime Rwatooro, Senior System Administrator, moderated the Session.
