Six courts in the central region have started implementing Small Claims Procedure as one of the mechanisms to improve justice delivery.

As part of the activities to mark the rollout, formal launches for SCP were held in Kagoma, Matugga, Goma, Ntenjeru, Kibibi, and Kanoni, spearheaded by the Ag. Assistant Registrar SCP, HW Lillian Bucyana and Magistrate Grade One, HW Kagoya Jackeline.

Local leaders who attended the events were urged to spread the gospel about Small Claims Procedure to their communities.

"You're the ambassadors since you are often the people's first points of reference whenever a dispute arises," HW Bucyana remarked, adding that they should recommend SCP because it's a fast dispute resolution mechanism.

In a message delivered by Ag. Deputy Registrar, Mpigi High Court, HW Ruth Nabaasa, the Resident Judge, Hon. Justice Oyuko Anthony Ojok, appealed to the business community to embrace the Procedure.

"I urge you to embrace the Procedure because it will help you to resolve disputes quickly, and it will save you a lot of time and money," the message read in part. This was during the launches at Kibibi and Kanoni.

Then he launches in the East were presided over by the Mukono Senior Resident Judge, Hon. Justice David Batema, at Ntenjeru and Goma Grade One Magistrates courts.

The launches were witnessed by, among others; Resident Magistrates Grade One; HW Muinda Tadeo(Ntenjeru) HW Joel Wegoye (Kagoma), HW Nakibinge Latif Abubakar (Matugga) and Resident District Commissioners; Ms Mugerwa Deborah Mwesigwa (Kagoma), Mr Lubwama Sulaiman (Butambala) and Mr Jemba Moses (Matugga).
